Default Faster memory cache for better graphics.... Use your USB drive as your Machine Memory

Its all about the unwanted service which M$ runs in your machine which you would never want to run...  Hey but make sure you have read the warning message in my first post before attempting all these below...

Hmm  now we get down to stop some unwanted programs eating up our processor...

1.Alerter service

[This service is alerting the administrators if there is any error in the service which  your workstations provides like anything wrong in the shared folder etc.. hey just think you run your home workstation for you or for everyone else connected in a network along with you? if you dont have anything to do with the errors which come n go when you do something with a shared folder then you can set it to run manually]

2. Clipbook service

[This service has been around since the time windows NT3.5. This is for sharing the clipboard "a peice of memory used for keeping the contents when you press ctrl+c. This can be safely disabled coz no program running now uses this service.]

3. Performance Logs and Alerts

[If you keep a continous tabs on your comps performance and you are able to understand the gizmosic log of it then you can keep it running else it is safe to set it to manual mode of startup. As I have seen this service eats up good amount of CPU cycles.]

4. Routing and Remote Access

[This service is for providing routing services to compters in local area along with you if you belive in social service and want to give routing services to any of the computers in your lan then you can leave it running else better to set it to manual mode. It is also safe to stop it if you are on a DSL internet link]

Try this out one by one and see the performance of the machine. Remember One At A Time!!!

Will further post tips for....

Speedin up your disk for faster read and write....
Faster memory cache for better graphics....
Use your USB drive as your Machine Memory !!! I am Sure you guys will love this .. Hmm A Little more work on it and you all will be able to use your USB disk as your computers memory....

Keep checking and post your feed back on this thread!!!

Default Tips To Speed Up Your Workstation

To get the most out of your NetWare server, Novell recommends that you use its client software, rather than Microsoft’s client, on your workstations. Most of the time the Novell client works great, but sometimes users complain that it slows down their computers. In this Daily Feature, I’ll identify ten things you can do to optimize the Novell Client on your workstations.

Those are really helpful tips. I am posting some practical tips here And I have been using these tips for last few years. These tips will work on any Windows based OS (XP/Vista/7).

1. Never installed too many softwares in your computer. Only used those programs which you used more.

2. The FONT Folder in Control Panel holds all the Font Types. Usually Windows comes with many good fonts. But sometimes we load some more. But remember the more font you load in this folder, the slower your system will be. Because when you start the computer, all those fonts are loaded in Windows. So, keep a eye on your fonts.

3. System Restore. This service is very space consuming. It creates your system's snapshot and stores them in HDD. So, with time your HDD space gets filled with these snapshots and at one point your HDD will have no space. So, you can shut down this program.

4. Your document folder. By default all the windows creates the "My Documents" folder in the same partition\drive where windows got installed. And if you format windows after some problems, you will lost all your valuable data, unless you have back up of it. Solution: Always create your Document folder in another partition\ drive or move the default Document folder to another partition\drive.

5. In Widows> Local Disk (c)> windows> Temp folder and Widows> Local Disk (c)> windows > Prefetch folder, you can find lots of useless files or folder which takes huge space. You can delete them from time to time.

6. With time Windows developed problems with Registry and in some other spaces and because of these problems our pc becomes get slower. And unfortunately these problems can not be solved with Windows. So, you have to use some third party software like "Registry Cleaner". I found "Tune Up Utilities 2008" best. It comes with many options and I run this program on every sunday.

7. Antivirus. Yes, this is another important program which takes some RAM and slows your system. So, choose your Antivirus according to yours system , usage and RAM. But never install 2 antivirus in your system as it will create and sometimes make your system not to work. (personally I use ABG Antivirus Free Edition 2011, and I found it good enough).

8. System packs and updates. These are also great to make your system run better. Normally the windows service packs are huge to download, but you can find them in the DVDs of some other popular pc magazines such as "Chip" and "Digit". And for the updates of all the other softwares, you can easily find them in the their respective sites.

9. Readyboost technology. Yes, this another useful technology which comes in Vista and 7. So, if you have a 2\4 GB pen drive and wants some extra Ram boost, them use that pen drive.
